In 1950, Max Steele’s Debby won the Harper Prize Novel Contest, an award given to American novels roughly biennially between 1924 and 1965. Twenty works won the Harper Prize in its history, and The Gianakos-Safos Collection includes all of them in US first printing, including this excellent copy of Debby. The Collection’s copy also contains a handwritten Christmas card and typewritten and signed letter from Steele to a friend.
